BMW SET TO RESURRECT THE BUBBLE CAR?

Not content with rejuventaing the legendary MINI name, BMW look set to do the same with the quirky little Isetta bubble car. Designed to compete with the likes of the Smart ForTwo and Fiat’s cheeky 500, the 21st century Isetta will go one better than its tri-wheeled predecessor by having the usual four.

The lightweight rear-engined model will have the lowest CO2 output of any car in BMW’s range, helping to cut the line-up’s average emissions to meet future targets. A zero-emissions electric variant should follow later. We get the feeling this is more than speculation.

Will this be just as disappointing as the new Mini? Doors on the side? Wasn’t the entire point of the Isetta to be able to nose it in against the curb and get out? This is nothing more than a Ford Fiesta with retro styling and a designer price tag. Cobblers! How about something original BMW?
