If you haven’t had chance to grab a copy of the latest EVO magazine, but were wondering what its cars of the year was, wonder no more. The guys have gone for Porsche’s sublime 997 GT3 RS. Second was the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, with the third place spot being taken by Audi’s beautiful R8.

I’ll still take the R8 for looks and put left over money into my house. And the Scud for both looks and performance.

As a new 350z owner it’s fun to see my car on the list, especially given that it was oh a 10th the price of the #1!

    Are you kidding me?!

    Seriously is this a joke?!

None of those cars deserve to be on any top ten list!!!

Porsche GT3? WTF are you guys on? Civic type R?! Over a Corvette Z06? Over a Pagani?! Over a Ariel Atom, over a Mustang Cobra?! You guys have no credibility…

    lol. I’m guessing you’re American?…

    EVO has no credibility????? LMAO!!!!!

Please don’t compare a car like the Corvette with a piece of engineering brilliance such as the GT3 RS.

You’ve just proven that you’ve never driven a genuine track-inspired car.

    Bye!!!

al, Z06 and Pagani are both fine cars, but they’re not released in 2006 so they won’t qualified. Z06 was in last year’s ECOTY.

However, i do believe GT3 RS is a better car than Z06 even though i quite like the Z06.

I think it’s a real achievement that the R8 can find itself so close to cars that are more expensive and far less compromising. I haven’t read the article yet, but I know from previous yaers that the focus of the awards is on which car is the most rewarding to drive - which makes the sub ten point gap between the Porsche and Mini even more interesting! BMW drivers will be ever more smug knowing they have a car which can get that close to the others and still take the family to the supermarket!
I think any US detractors should bear in mind that our roads are narrower, have bends in them and that we like cars that are well built…which by and large these are. I’ve been in a few American cars…….

Where was the Aston Martin DBS on this list? Where did it come? Also, where is Vauxhall’s V8?

  11. 11. 3rd February, 2008 at 09:19 by Todd

The DBS isn’t even out yet. Even the one in James Bond was a prototype.

It’ll be released later this year.

    That’s why it wasn’t on the 2007 list…
