Not only in proportions is the new 1-series Coupé a worthy successor to the BMW 2002, but also technically: As in the 70s, the current most powerful standard version is powered by a “charged” engine. Daringly, the overtaking prestige was then enhanced further by the mirror-image Turbo logo on the front spoiler.

It’s only been around for 30 seconds, but Audi is already tweaking the latest generation of its TT range. This Roadster was spotted during winter testing wearing a narrow strip of LEDs beneath its headlights.

The LEDs are reminiscent of the optional items found on A4s. The headlights appear to be the same as those seen on the hot TT S model (even though this seems like a standard model). Expect a freshened-up TT to show its face sometime next year.

Not content with rejuventaing the legendary MINI name, BMW look set to do the same with the quirky little Isetta bubble car. Designed to compete with the likes of the Smart ForTwo and Fiat’s cheeky 500, the 21st century Isetta will go one better than its tri-wheeled predecessor by having the usual four.

The lightweight rear-engined model will have the lowest CO2 output of any car in BMW’s range, helping to cut the line-up’s average emissions to meet future targets. A zero-emissions electric variant should follow later. We get the feeling this is more than speculation.

EVO magazine has published a few extra details regarding Audi’s eagerly awaited V10-powered R8. Its 500+bhp powerplant will be based on the high revving RS4/R8 V8 unit rather than being related to the V10s seen in the RS6 or the Lamborghini Gallardo.

Due to the higher than expected demand for its V8-powered R8 Audi has decided to delay production of its bigger brother until late 2008. That’ll give you plenty of time to save up.
