Volkswagen debuted the minivan version of its cute up! concept at the Tokyo Motor Show today. Equipped with rear suicide doors and 23cm longer than the original three-door version, the up! Space Concept will provide a whole “4.5m of legroom in a vehicle just 3.68m long”. Full (massive) press release below.

Audi’s A1 concept car, the Audi Metroproject Quattro, has put in an appearance at the Tokyo Motor Show. Bristling with cool details such as the LED lights and aluminium roof pillars, the concept car is almost dimensionally identical to the A3, but the production A1 is expected to be more compact.

Here’s a short video showing the funky little Audi Metroproject Quattro concept in all its glory. Believed to be the first version of the Audi A1, the cool-looking MINI-fighter will make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show this week. The finished article (Audi’s A1) should be production ready by 2009. Full press release below.

This monster VW Beetle seems to keep turning up on eBay. The V6-powered Bug has a 400bhp sting in the tail thanks to its HPA turbocharger conversion. The ‘buy it now’ price tag of $28,900.00 doesn’t seem to steep for a car that’s had $65,000 invested in it.

Volkswagen, a Universal Studios global alliance partner, will donate a 2008 New Beetle to the Fulfillment Fund as they honor Universal Pictures Chairman Marc Shmuger at the STARS 2007 Gala in Beverly Hills.
The Fulfillment Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping promising yet educationally undeserved and economically disadvantaged students achieve high school graduation and access to and completion of higher education.
In celebration of the Fulfillment Fund’s 30th anniversary, the STARS 2007 Benefit Gala will take place on Tuesday, October 23rd at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. In addition to acknowledging Mr. Shmuger, the evening’s highlights will include inspiring stories of how the Fulfillment Fund has made a difference in the lives of disadvantaged youth throughout Los Angeles, an inaugural presentation of the Gitnick Visionary Award to the Fulfillment Fund founders, and a spirited live auction with Sinbad serving as one of the auctioneers. The evening also includes Vince Vaughn and Sidney Poitier as presenters and Seth Rogen as Master of Ceremonies. Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx will provide the musical entertainment.
In recognition of the global alliance between Volkswagen and Universal Studios, VW is proud to help honor Mr. Shmuger and support this event and will generously donate a 2008 VW new Beetle to be auctioned off at the Gala.
