VOLKSWAGEN TO SELL LAMBORGHINIS IN SOUTH KOREA

Lamborghini SpA, the Italian sports-car unit of Volkswagen AG, says it will sell the luxury sports cars in South Korea next year under a local dealership to take advantage of the country’s booming market for imported vehicles.

At a press conference in Seoul, Lamborghini President Stephan Winkelmann said his company would target South Korean drivers in the age bracket of 30s and 40s.

Lamborghini would sell Gallardo and Murcielago cars priced as much as 538 million won (US$587,000) including taxes here, according to the company’s statement.

Sales of imported cars in South Korea are expected to grow 12 percent to 45,500 units this year, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association.

The association predicted sales of imported cars in South Korea to reach 70,000 units by 2010.
