Completed just in time for the start of the IAA: the Wiesmann GT with the model name of MF 5 and a 10-cylinder motor. Hiding behind this unpretentious name is the most exciting sports car ever to be presented by Wiesmann to the public.

According to Motoring File, BMW is rumoured to be shrinking its already smallish MINI. With European laws on emissions getting tighter and tighter it makes sense for BMW to delve into the ultra efficient, ultra mini market. The new model will be pitched against such cars as Citroen’s C1, the Smart Fortwo and perhaps even VW’s UP!

Having owned (and loved) the original MINI as well as BMW’s version, it’d be pretty cool to see a BMW-engineered genuinely small MINI.

If you missed Fifth Gear last night, it was a good one. One of the highlights was Tiff Needell in a Gallardo Superleggera, doing his best to keep up with a 160bhp bike.

Oh dear, Hamann have really outdone themselves with this monstrosity, the ‘Cyclone’. The Cayenne isn’t exactly a supermodel to begin with, but this kit is like putting a bikini on a 300 pound girl, it’s just going to cause damage to your eyes. The front looks like Hamann have kicked the Cayenne’s teeth in, the rear looks like a riced-out Subaru has donated its roof spoiler and lower skirt. And if a Porsche was capable of developing tumours, they’d look like those rear light clusters. Nasty!

As someone who followed his career, even being lucky enough to see him drive on a WRC round, the death of Colin McRae still doesn’t feel ‘real’. Here’s a pretty cool clip of the legend doing what he did best. RIP Colin (and those who died with you).

You’ll have to wait until October before you can watch it on the next series of Top Gear, but here’s a few sneaky shots. Richard Hammond will be racing the mighty Bugatti Veyron against an RAF Typhoon F1 jet fighter plane. We can’t wait.

Thanks for the photos Lee.

Rally legend Colin McRae and his young son are feared dead after his helicopter crashed and exploded near their Scottish home.

The 39-year-old was thought to be at the controls of his helicopter with his son Johnny, five, as a passenger when it crashed close to their family farm in Lanarkshire just after 4pm.
If the reports are true (which we unfortunately believe they are) then our sincerely condolences go out to Mr McRae’s family and friends. A true legend has been lost.
Thanks for entertaining us for so many years Mr McRae. You were totally fearless and we admired you for it.

* His agent Jean-Eric Freudiger says he and his 5 year old son Johnny were killed in the crash, in which Strathclyde police confirm there were no survivors. Formal identification of the dead is not expected for some time

Volkswagen continued its preparations for the 2008 Dakar Rally with an eleven-day test in Tunisia.

Two Volkswagen Race Touareg 2 prototypes were used during the longest test of the year. The main focus of attention for one of the powerful 285 hp prototypes was reliability during so-called long runs; set-up work on the second Race Touareg was pinpointed at optimising the suspension and brake systems.

As well as being stripped of any constructor’s points, Formula One team McLaren must pay a $100m fine for spying on rival team Ferrari. For some reason, drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso can continue to compete in the drivers’ competition.

Whilst checking out our local Porsche specialist site, we spotted this beauty. The 1967 Blood Orange car is number 3 out of 4 prototype 911 R factory cars built. Winner of the 1967 Marathon de la Route, with Vic Elford, Hans Hermann and Jochen Neerpasch driving. A very important 911, in perfect order. And the price? £ 650,000.00 ($1,318,070).
