The second-generation BMW X5 sports activity vehicle is on a roll.

BMW Manufacturing Co. shipped its 100,000th “next-generation†X5 to a customer in Bellevue, Washington.. on Thursday — less than a year after the plant first began making the updated vehicle.
“Reaching this milestone in less than a year is an indicator of how popular the X5 is with customers,†he said. “With the original X5, it took almost two years to reach the 100,000th milestone.â€

OK, so it’s not exactly an ‘Audi’ car phone but it’s not hard to see which model this Chinese phone has been based on (even without the badges.) We wonder how many TT owners are going to snap them up, just to let other people in the pub know whose is the TT in the car park. Surely no one else (in their right mind) would want such a monstrosity?

The chief executive of PSA Peugeot Citroen, Christian Streiff, has said that he wouldn’t rule out a joint venture with BMW and Mercedes to develop a new range of petrol engines.
PSA and BMW already have a healthy relationship when it comes to building powerplants, and Norbert Reithofer (the BMW chief executive) confirmed last week that he was open to developing engines jointly with rival DaimlerChrysler, whose chief executive Dieter Zetsche has made similar remarks.
“PSA Peugeot Citroen is the volume car maker with the largest number of cooperation pacts and Mr Streiff has said he wants to deepen the existing partnerships,” the spokesman said.
“With BMW we have a specific and durable pact on petrol engines,” he added.
PSA is “constantly working” on developing a new generation of petrol engine with lower fuel consumption and lower emissions of greenhouse gases, he added.

OK, so it’s not exactly brand new, but it’s still pretty cool. Here’s a commercial for Volkswagen’s Polo. We never figured out how they managed to find a cat that big though…

Last weekend, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class station wagon that was unveiled at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt/Main celebrated its production launch at the plant. The first vehicle rolled off the assembly line during the Friday night shift.

“As our employees successfully mastered the launch of the new C-Class sedan last March, they are well prepared to also bring the station wagon version onto the road in top quality,†said Peter Schabert, head of the plant.
The predecessor of the new C-Class station wagon was phased out at the end of May. The plant’s staff had since then made extensive preparations for the production ramp-up of the new station wagon, which will be manufactured on the same assembly line as the sedan.
