Volkswagen To Offset Owner’s Carbon Footprint Through Partnership With Carbonfund.org

Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced today that they have partnered with Carbonfund.org to offset one year of carbon emission from each new Volkswagen vehicle sold in the United States from September 1, 2007 through January 2, 2008.

“We developed this partnership to help bring our customers to the forefront of environmental initiatives,” said Adrian Hallmark, executive vice president, Volkswagen of America. “Vehicles are an important and necessary part of our society, but there are actions we can all take to help ensure a cleaner environment for future generations.”

Facelifted BMW 3-Series Spotted

A facelifted version of the latest BMW 3-Series saloon has been spied during testing. The minimal changes include: a less angular front bumper with different intakes, a more rounded grille, sharper side-skirts, muscular-looking bonnet and new headlights (CELIS LED corona rings with DRL function).

Judging by the camouflaged boot-lid, we’ll take it the rear lights have been tweaked too.

Volkswagen & Apple Working On ‘iCar’

Apple and Volkswagen are discussing the possibility of creating an “iCar” which would feature products by the producer of the uber-successful personal music player.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs and Volkswagen’s chief Martin Winterkorn met several days ago in California, and plan to meet for further discussions, said Hans-Gerd Bode, a spokesman for VW.

There are “scores of ideas”, but few concrete plans at this point, Bode said.

Market experts have estimated that a compact car upgraded with Apple products would be of substantial interest to young target groups, according to German financial magazine Capital.

Panamera: Wing Down

Volkswagen of America, Inc. and Program Professionals, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to health promotion, injury prevention and safety programming, have teamed up to launch the national Volkswagen Safety Program.

Smart Fortwo BRABUS And BRABUS Xclusive

The BRABUS models of the new smart fortwo are ready to hit the road. With a re-engineered 72 kW/98 bhp three cylinder turbo engine the smart fortwo BRABUS and the smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive continue to boast low fuel consumption of just 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres, yet they have 30 percent more power than the predecessor model.

CO2 emissions stand at 124 grams per kilometre. The sporty two-seater accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 km/h. Prices in Germany range from € 16,490 to € 22,430 (ex factory) depending on the equipment line and body type.
