Autobild has compared the beautiful Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with BMW’s brutal M6 Cabriolet.
The open-top M6 uses BMW’s 5.0L V10 powerplant developing 507bhp. This powers the car from 100km/h (0-62mph) in 4.8 seconds before going on to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph.) Unchecked, the car could continue to a top speed approaching 323km/h (200mph.) Its sheer performance, alongside the engine’s technological advancements, are just two of the reasons the worldwide judging panel of the International Engine of the Year voted the M6’s V10 engine the world’s best for the second year in succession - a new landmark in the history of the awards.
The production spyder model of the Gallardo was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2006. It is considered by the company to be an entirely new model, with 5.0L V10 producing 520bhp and a lower-ratio six-speed manual transmission, the Spyder reaches a top speed of 314 km/h (195mph) with the roof up and 307 km/h (190mph) with the roof down, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 4.3 seconds.

It’s a 1981 BMW body - grafted onto a 1983 Blazer 4×4 Chassis. Power comes from a 2.8L V6. Interesting…

Pirelli GTI

If you’re old (like us…) you’ll remember the original Pirelli Golf GTI from Volkswagen, back in 1983. Here’s its new brother.
Externally, the Pirelli GTI doesn’t give much away apart from the ‘Edition 30′ kit, those 7.5×18in titanium coloured five-spoke ‘P’ rims and that ‘Pirelli’ logo on the tailgate. The logo is repeated on the heated leather seats - complete with ‘tyre print’ stamp.
The 2.0L TFSI powerplant is good for 230bhp - enough to carry the Golf to 100km/h (62mph) in 6.8s (DSG 6.6s) and on to a top speed of 245 km/h (152mph.)
The Pirelli goes on sale in September and will be available in bright yellow, silver, blue graphite and black pearl.
