An old Audi 90 Quattro was used as the base model for the project. The wide-body conversion was originally carried out in steel, before the owner took moulds from those crazy arches to re-make them in carbon fibre/kevlar. An Audi A8 donated its 4.2L V8 powerplant to the project, while those monster rims are actually from a Volkswagen T5 (widened to 17x12inches.)

Would those molds be able to make fiberglass ones?

  6. 6. 27th June, 2007 at 23:01 by Warren M

We don’t know Andy. Perhaps you could ask the owner. The link takes you to his site. Judging by the amount of hits this article’s had, the owner could make replica panels!

that i one amazing piece of artwork. it must of taken him years to build that. the only part i don`t like is the audi v8 he should have put a audi 5 cyl Turbo into it to.because thats what made the IMSA gto special. i would be great to see this as a bodykit. i did see an audi S1 replica bodykit though

Hi guys I live in Reno, NV USA and have just baught a 1991 90q 20v that i will be turning into a imsa 90 q replica track car to run with the audi club and possibly race with scca. I’m not sure if i will do the wide body but it will have a 20 valve turbo motor. I saw the imsa cars race at laguna seca in oct. of 1989 it was the first race for the factory supported Ferrari F40 it was a great race the Audis won 1st and 2nd.

I will post pics and text of my project as I go. Its great to see so many fans of the old Audi race cars. my email dhbzhch@sbcglobal.net

hi,im in the process of importing the original moulds from europe to the uk to reproduce the awesome french superturrissmo cars.these were audi 80 quattro,s with wide arch kits a large front similar to the imsa 90.they ran a 4 cyl lehmann engine based on the 80 4 cylinder rated at 400 hp incar adjustable to 600hp,the valve seats fall out at 620hp.all turbo,d.i will try and upload pics if i can.they are on the audi passion france website.these cars are rare here and probably unknown in the usa.not to be confused with the supertouring 80,s of 1993/4…..tim cooper
