Murcielago LP640 Superveloce

Car magazine has unearthed a few more details and photos of the forthcoming hotter Murcielago LP640 from Lamborghini.

It was initially believed to wear the ‘Superleggera’ label, but is now thought to be named the Murcielago LP640 Superveloce. As with the Superleggera, Lamborghini will be shaving weight from the LP640, ditching any unnecessary trim and using such goodies as titanium wheel nuts to take around 100kg from the car’s original 1665kg. The shorter gearing and 8000rpm redline will help the SV to 60mph in around 3.4s, while top speed is reduced to just 200mph…
The SV is expected to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, and weigh in at around a £230,000.

This is not the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 Super Veloce. This is is modded Lamborghini LP 640. The Super Veloce has a different front body kit and also the spoiler is different on the Super Veloce – It is made out of carbon fiber. Furthermore, the rims are different, and, excuse me for my language, but the vents covering the engine are much more aggressive and way different. So unless I am wrong and this was just a prototype that Lamborghini was working with, then it is a shame that “Car magazine” has labeled this LP – 640 as a Super Veloce and should be corrected. That’s a prototype of the SV for sure. You can’t judge a pre-production prototype vehicle for having different aero parts or wheels from the production version. It’s not ‘just’ an LP 640.
So, yes, you’re wrong.
