AMG-Mercedes C-Class DTM Rolls Into Geneva

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, celebrated its public premiere at the Geneva Motor Show today, both as a production model and as a racing version for the German Touring Car Masters (DTM).

“The production version of the new C-Class Saloon excels with a multi-faceted product concept which meets the expectations of different customer target groups,” said Johannes Fritz, Director, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes Car Group. “With the AVANTGARDE, ELEGANCE and CLASSIC lines, Mercedes-Benz offers three individual models whose emphasis is on either comfort or agility.”
As well as displaying the exemplary refinement for which Mercedes-Benz is renowned, all model variants share the latest, state-of-the-art technology.

This includes the AGILITY CONTROL package with situation-responsive shock absorber control, the Intelligent Light System with five different lighting functions and the PRE-SAFE® preventive occupant protection system.
There is a choice of four- and six-cylinder engines with up to 13 percent more output than the preceding model, accompanied by up to six percent lower fuel consumption.

The C-Class is also causing a sensation in the sporting world with Mercedes-Benz engineers and technical staff putting the finishing touches for the first race of the DTM series at the Hockenheimring on April 22. The 2007 C-Class will be raced by defending champion Bernd Schneider, last season’s runner-up Bruno Spengler and two-time Formula-1 world champion Mika Hakkinen.
