Volkswagen AG has increased its stake in the ordinary shares of MAN Aktiengesellschaft from approximately 20 percent to 29.9 percent on February 26, 2007.
The Board of Management of Volkswagen is convinced that this level of participation in MAN is both helpful and adequate to allow all parties to find a friendly and mutually agreeable solution for combining MAN and Scania. Realizing the acknowledged high synergy potential remains the objective.

Porsche has created this Aerokit for its Cayman and Cayman S sports cars. This new customizing equipment consists of add-on spoiler lips for the standard front-end apron panel and a new, fixed rear spoiler.

Along with the car’s appearance, its aerodynamics have also been upgraded. The Aerokit’s components, optimized in Porsche’s wind tunnel, reduce lift at the front and rear axles, making the car even more stable at high speeds.
Porsche supplies this Aerokit on all international markets. In Germany, it can be ordered via Porsche Exclusive for €3,500 excluding VAT for installation on a new car.
For later customization, it will be available starting in March 2007 from Porsche Tequipment for €2,950 excluding VAT, installation and spraying.

We’ve been keeping you up to date with spy pictures of the forthcoming BMW Z4, but until now there’s been very little in the way of details on the new Roadster.

Apparently, the Z4 will be available with four engine options - a 185 bhp 2.0L direct-injection four cylinder unit, a 231 bhp 2.5L direct-injection straight six, a 321 bhp turbocharged 3.0L and at the top of the tree a naturally aspirated 4.0L V8, good for around 450 bhp.
Owners can expect the next generation model to have a stiffer chassis than its predecessor, as well as a host of new technology including iDrive, a VW-type DSG gearbox, electro-hydraulic brakes, adjustable damping and active steering.

Lamborghini is said to be planning a diet for its Gallardo. The company wants to build a lightweight version of its baby to compete with the likes of Ferrari’s awesome F430 Challenge Stradale.

The Superleggera will be 100 kg lighter than the standard model, while its 5.0L V10 powerplant is tweaked, taking output to 530 bhp. These figures will be enough to take the Superleggera to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and on to a top speed nudging 200 mph. E-Gear sequential transmission will be standard equipment on the Superleggera.

Amongst the botox and implants of the Oscars last night, Audi was doing its good deed for the evening, by auctioning a beautiful R8 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Bidding for the car started at $100,000, and could be placed live by attendees at the viewing party, over the telephone, by proxy, or eBay. As it turned out, the winning bidder was actually on the auction floor, grabbing the keys to the brand spanking new R8 for a bargain $210,000.
All proceeds were donated to EJAF to support its work in the fight against HIV/AIDS. This marks the second year in a row Audi has teamed up with the EJAF to auction off a vehicle during the party. Two Audi Q7 models sold for a combined $280,000 last year.

BMW Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld was on hand to help mark the 100th anniversary of the St. Moritz event, White Turf.
The F1 star put on a great display of car control for the 15,000 spectators with his Formula One car on the frozen lake.

Special spiked Bridgestone rubber, an eight man crew, and two truckloads of equipment helped to make the spectacle possible. They had to warm the engine up every thirty minutes to prevent it from freezing.
“That was quite a unique experience – just seeing the magnificent mountain scenery surrounding the lake is really impressive. The frozen track was of course much rougher than what I’m used to in Formula One. Although it was by no means easy to apply force on such a surface, I enjoyed the drive immensely†commented Heidfeld.
