What Now For Bugatti?

Once all the allocated Veyron’s have been built, the factory is known to be creating a Targa version, but after that, the future of the plant is unknown.

Rumours of a 1200 bhp ‘Sport’ version seem unfounded, as the ’standard’ model took way longer than expected to develop into a reliable road car. The company had problems with tyres and cooling (the car needs TEN radiators to keep things cool.), so an extra 200 bhp would push things a little too far…
Another option, would be to bring back the Bugatti Royale name – a super saloon based on the Veyron, powered by a V16 powerplant, but VW feel that such a car would prove too costly.

There is talk of a cheaper twin-turbo 550 bhp V8 powered coupe and convertible, but such a car may take customers away from the group’s Lamborghini Gallardo and Bentley Continental GT models.
The most likely outcome for Bugatti, is that Volkswagen will let the company switch to building one-off cars to meet customers specific needs.
