VW Triumphant At Australia’s Best Car Awards

Volkswagen have scooped three gongs at this years ‘Australia’s Best Car Awards’. Their Polo TDI picked up ‘Best Small Car’, the Jetta TDI/FSI bagged ‘Best Midsize Car (Over $28,000)’, and the superb Golf GTI walked away with ‘Best Sports Car’.

Volkswagen Group Australia’s Managing Director, Jutta Dierks, commented “These awards are significant for a number of reasons. Firstly, given the market segments we were successful in, it further confirms Volkswagens position as a premium volume brand. Secondly, Golf GTI followed up the success in 2005 making it two in a row with another award for being a great all-round sports car in 2006. And thirdly, our decision to introduce diesel (TDI) engines to all Volkswagen passenger vehicles has certainly been vindicated with the Australia’s Best Car awards for both Polo and Jetta and the sales of Volkswagen TDI powered cars thus far.”
