America Gets The New X5

BMW have launched their new X5 SAV in Athens, with the vehicle going on sale throughout America later this month.

Owners can expect a bigger body (capable of housing a third row of seats) and a choice of larger engines.

Power will initially be provided by a 4.8L V8 (355 bhp), with a 235 bhp 3.0L oil burner appearing at a later date. BMW have also hinted that that hybrid version could be created sometime in the future.

Expect the usual BMW technology, including an upgraded version of the iDrive system as well as the option of a heads-up display and active steering.

The X5 won’t make its way into European showrooms until next March.
