VW May Close Belgian Plant

After bringing you news of possible redundancies at Volkswagen’s Belgian plant, rumours are growing that the factory may close completely.

Workers uncertain of their future, have downed tools and gone on strike at the Vorst plant. It’s been suggested that VW may close factories in Spain, Portugal and Belgium in an effort to save jobs in Germany.

Politicians in Belgium, have spoken out, accusing VW management of being arrogant and keeping their workforce in the dark, regarding the possible job losses.

Socialist coalition party leader, Johan Vande Lanotte, commented “Our government has done everything to make the Vorst plant a competitive and flexible factory and it is now punished by the German trade unions and executive board.”
