Rolls Royce Attempting Land Speed Record

Rolls Royce are preparing to break the land speed record for a piston-engined, wheel-driven vehicle.

The current record stands at 409 mph. Rolls Royce would love to recapture it, after have a long running tradition of land speed records, with the Bluebirds of speed-freak Sir Malcolm Campbell.

The attempt will be made at the legendary BonÂneville Salt Flats, with the Crewe based company developing a turbocharged V16 unit churning out over 1000 bhp.
Expect more details from Rolls Royce at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
