Porsche 997: Facelift Pictures
Posted 13th November, 2006 in Porsche | 19 Comments
A big thanks to Simon for sending us these pictures of the facelifted Porsche 997.
It’s not exactly unrecognisable, with the main changes being a slightly more aggressive front bumper, gaining larger intakes reminiscent of the new Turbo item.

The rear bumper is also tweaked, The new rear light clusters will be LED items, with their lense cutting into the bumper (in a similar way to the headlights on the Porsche 996 models).

Nice.

Anyone know if the new porsche direct injection engine is going to be part of the package? I have just ordered the existing 997 C2S and am thinking about cancelling it in favour of the new model. The new facelift means little but the heart of a Porsche is its engine so will the new powerplant be worth the wait?

I’ve just ordered one new 997 facelift (well, did a reservation to be sure of hace one before summer 2008). The salesman (porsche south of france) told me that the new 997 is coming out 4th of july (europe). Yes it comes with direct injection 385HP instead of 355 now. Sorry abour my english, but yes pete, you should cancel !

I’ve put down a deposit on the facelift version. As I understand it, the power upgrade won’t be to 385 bhp (desolee), but more like 370. There will be direct fuel injection and the fuel economy will be better along with the CO2 emissions being lower.
Porsche have been very coy about the facelift because they don’t want people cancelling orders for the current 997.
I get mine in October.

Will the DSG replace the old tiptronic at the same time?

What about prices? And how much impact will the extra 20 odd hp make to the 0-60 time and top speed?

From what ive recently heard, the current Carrera S will become the standard carrera, and the carrera S powerpack will become the standard C2S
